Why not Squarespace or Wix?
For plenty of businesses those are the right answer and I'll tell you so. Where they stop working is custom intake, unusual workflows, real speed requirements, or when you've outgrown the template and every change fights the platform. If a builder fits your needs, use one — you don't need me for that.
Do I need a database?
Usually not. Most small business sites need a good structured form that lands in your inbox, not a database you have to secure and back up. Fewer moving parts means fewer things to break and nothing to breach. If you genuinely need stored data, I'll build it properly.
Who hosts it?
You do, on your own account, so you're never locked in. For a static site that's often free or close to it. I'll set it up and show you how it works.
Can you take over an existing site?
Sometimes. If it's on a proprietary platform, a rebuild is frequently cheaper than fighting it. I'll look and give you an honest read rather than automatically pitching a rebuild.
Do you do ongoing maintenance?
Not as a retainer. A hand-built static site needs almost none — nothing to patch and nothing to get hacked. If you want changes later, hire me for a small piece of work.
